Description
In Ayurveda, Safed Mari is considered Ushna (heating) but is generally regarded as slightly gentler and more “focused” in its action than the more intense black pepper.
Respiratory Support: It is highly valued as a decongestant. A classic home remedy involves mixing a pinch of white pepper powder with raw honey. This helps thin mucus and soothe chest congestion, especially during cold, damp weather.
Digestive Aid: Like black pepper, it contains piperine, which stimulates the production of hydrochloric acid in the stomach, aiding in better digestion and nutrient absorption. It’s often used to gently kindle Agni (digestive fire) without being overly aggressive on the system.
Metabolism & Detox: It is considered a mild thermogenic, meaning it can help increase metabolic rate and promote sweating, which assists the body in flushing out toxins.
Anti-inflammatory: It is frequently used in traditional pastes applied to joints to help reduce the discomfort associated with minor inflammation.
