Description
Bhangro (ભંગરો) is the Gujarati name for one of Ayurveda’s most famous and widely used herbs: Bhringraj.
Scientifically known as Eclipta alba (or Eclipta prostrata), this small, moisture-loving weed grows abundantly in damp places across India. It is universally celebrated as the “King of Hair” (Keshraja) due to its unparalleled benefits for hair health, though it is equally potent for liver and skin care.
In Ayurveda, Bhangro has a bitter (Tikta) and pungent (Katu) taste with a hot potency (Ushna Virya). It effectively balances Kapha and Vata doshas while cooling down an aggravated Pitta dosha when applied to the head.
Ultimate Hair Rejuvenator: It promotes hair growth by increasing blood circulation to the scalp, deep-nourishes hair follicles, prevents premature greying, and dramatically reduces hair fall and dandruff.
Powerful Liver Tonic (Yakit): Bhangro contains active compounds like wedelolactone that shield liver cells from toxins. It is heavily used in traditional medicine to treat jaundice, fatty liver conditions, and a sluggish digestive tract.
Improves Eyesight & Memory: Regular consumption of the purified powder or juice acts as a Rasayana (rejuvenation agent), helping to calm the nervous system, improve vision, and reduce sleep disorders like insomnia.
Skin Care: The fresh juice of Bhangro leaves has natural anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties, helping to heal minor cuts, fungal infections, and chronic skin allergies when applied topically.
How It Is Used
Bhringraj Taila (Hair Oil): Fresh Bhangro leaf juice is slowly boiled with a base oil like sesame or coconut oil until all water content evaporates. This medicated oil is massaged onto the scalp weekly.
Bhangro Churna (Powder): The dried whole plant is powdered. A standard dose of 1 to 3 grams is taken with milk, water, or ghee to improve liver health or hair vitality from within.
